Chinese stocks opened lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.14 percent to open at 2,600.5 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 1.27 percent lower at 7,733.11 points.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.89 percent to open at 1,356.62 points Tuesday.
The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small- and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, are major indices reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
Hong Kong stocks lost 540.88 points, or 2.11 percent, to open at 25,092.3 points on Tuesday.
