China's major stock indices ended slightly lower in the morning session Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06 percent at 2,568.88 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.04 percent to end at 7,544.36 points at midday.
ChiNext Index higher at midday
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, went up 0.14 percent to 1,268.08 points in the morning session Wednesday.
The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, are major indices reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
Hong Kong shares down 0.25 pct by midday
Hong Kong stocks lost 66.71 points, or 0.25 percent, to close Wednesday's morning session at 26,763.58 points.

Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as investors chose to secure profits following the Nikkei's recent gains, with sentiment dented by concerns over Britain's problematic plan to leave the European Union.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 140.97 points, or 0.69 percent, from Tuesday to 20,414.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.06 points, or 0.52 percent, at 1,534.66.
Oil and coal product, mining and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
