​Chinese shares close higher at midday Tuesday

Chinese shares trended higher at midday Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.42 percent to close at 2,973.71 points.
 
The Shenzhen Component Index rallied 0.22 percent to 9,154.23 points at midday.  

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, went up 1.16 percent to 1,554.27 points in the morning session Tuesday.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, are major indices reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

The ChiNext Board, which started trading on Oct. 30, 2009, mainly lists high-tech companies and those with high growth potential.
