Tokyo stocks open lower on concerns over corporate earnings

TOKYO, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as investor sentiment was dampened by major bluechip firms here lowering profit outlooks and delaying results owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

As of 9:15 a.m. (local time), the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 151.43 points, or 0.78 percent, from Thursday to 19,278.01.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 12.41 points, or 0.87 percent, at 1,413.57.

Securities brokerage, real estate and air transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
