China's social security and health regulators are mulling drafting rules guiding compiling of basic medical insurance-covered drugs payment standards now, said Li Zhong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) on a press conference Tuesday.
MOHRSS and the National Health and Family Planning Commission will strive to complete and unveil the standards, which would be applicable to both urban and rural areas.
Currently, some localities in China have formulated interim rules on basic medical insurance-covered drugs payment standards and opinions have also been solicited for these rules in a certain scale, Li said.
Earlier in May, MOHRSS and six other authorities jointly issued guidelines to press ahead with drugs pricing reform including setting procedures and measures on how to make the basic medical insurance-covered drugs payment standards.
