S. Korean shares open higher

SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- South Korean shares opened higher on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 24.69 points, or 0.97 percent, to trade at 2,578.19 in the first 30 minutes of trading.

The local currency was quoted at 1,114.2 won versus the U.S. dollar, up 0.1 won from the previous close.
