TOKYO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as investor sentiment was bolstered by U.S. shares rising overnight on robust U.S. factory output data and President Joe Biden's 2 trillion U.S. dollar infrastructure spending plan.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 408.24 points, or 1.39 percent, from Thursday to 29,797.11.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 18.99 points, or 0.97 percent, at 1,976.63.

Mining, pulp and paper, and electric appliance issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
