TOKYO, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as the Dow Jones index rose overnight, but gains were limited due to domestic COVID-19 concerns coupled with investors opting not to make bold moves ahead of earnings reports.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 82.54 points, or 0.28 percent, from Wednesday to 29,703.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.76 points, or 0.65 percent, at 1,964.94.

Marine transportation, mining and iron, and steel-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
