TOKYO, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investors bought on dips following the market's drop the previous day, but along with concerns over rising domestic COVID-19 cases, gains were also capped by Wall Street's losses overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 160.77 points, or 0.54 percent, from Monday to 29,699.50.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 9.35 points, or 0.48 percent, at 1,963.94.

Glass and ceramics product, rubber product and securities house issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
