TOKYO, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday as the yen's strength against the U.S. dollar dented investor sentiment along with a downbeat lead from the Dow Jones Industrial Average overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 155.32 points, or 0.52 percent, from Tuesday to 29,596.29.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 12.30 points, or 0.63 percent, at 1,946.25.

Textile and apparel, nonferrous metal and mining issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
