S. Korea's producer price falls in June

SEOUL, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Price for goods and services among South Korean suppliers marked the first fall in seven months due to cheaper farm goods, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The producer price index (PPI) slipped 0.1 percent in June from a month earlier after gaining for the past six months, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

Price for agricultural, livestock and fishery products among suppliers went down 2.8 percent last month, continuing to decline for the third straight month.

Producer price for industrial products, including oil products, stood unchanged in June compared with the previous month.

Price for coal and oil products inched down 0.1 percent, but price for food and beverage edged up 0.2 percent.

Producer price for electricity, natural gas and tap water dipped 0.1 percent in June on a monthly basis after picking up 0.4 percent in the previous month.

Service price was up 0.1 percent last month due to higher cost for the eatery and lodging, the transport, the finance and insurance, the real estate, and the information, communication and broadcasting services.
