Shanghai municipality is likely to continue its policy of providing free license plates for new energy vehicles (NEVs), said an insider with the local NEV popularization office.
The Xinhua-run cnstock.com quoted the insider as saying that the municipal government will publicize its new policies on free license plates and subsidies for NEVs at the end of this year.By now, Shanghai has granted about 30,000 license plates to NEVs of more than 30 brands.
The city uses an auction system to sell a limited number of license plates to fossil-fuel car buyers every month. The lowest winning bid was 82,100 yuan (about 12,963.59 US dollars), and the average price was 82,172 yuan (about 12,974.96 dollars) in September 2015.
