The Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology under Chinese Academy of Sciences has recently made a breakthrough in new type graphene lithium-ion super-capacitor technology which is expected to be used in the rail transit field soon.

Given the super-capacitor's higher power and higher-energy density, quick charge and quick release, the institute used it to build a 48V system for power source of electric vehicles at the beginning of 2015. On China's A-share market, listed companies including Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co., Ltd. (600805.SH), China Baoan Group (000009.SZ) and Fangda Carbon New Material (600516.SH) are engaged in the graphene super-capacitor business.
