China's fixed-line broadband Internet speed reaches 7.9Mbit/s in Q3, BDA

The average available download speed of China's fixed-line broadband networks reached 7.9Mbit/s in the third quarter of 2015, comparing with 5.12Mbit/s in the first quarter and 6.11Mbit/s in the second quarter, the Broadband Development Alliance (BDA) announced on Friday.

BDA said the average broadband speed rates in east China, central China and west China were 8.15Mbit/s, 7.79Mbit/s and 7.63Mbit/s in the period, respectively. Shanghai led the country by fixed-line broadband Internet speed in the three months, as its average speed rate was 11.11Mbit/s. It was followed by Beijing, with an average speed rate of 9.79Mbit/s. BDA added that the average online video download speed increased 7.19 percent quarter on quarter in the period, to 6.41Mbit/s.
