Tokyo stocks closed mixed on Monday as investors buying on dips was offset by those selling on concerns about the global economy amid a lack of domestic cues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 19.63 points, or 0.09 percent, from Friday to close the day at 22,269.88.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile shed 1.03 points, or 0.06 percent, to finish at 1,671.95.
Textile and apparel, machinery and mining issues comprised those that gained the most, while oil and coal product, nonferrous metal and marine transportation issues were among notable decliners.
