TOKYO, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Monday tracking gains late last week on Wall Street, after U.S. non-farm payroll data for March beat median market expectations.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 45.03 points, or 0.21 percent, from Friday to 21,852.53. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 0.07 point, or 0.00 percent, at 1,625.82.
Mining, oil and coal product, and farm and fishery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minuets after the morning bell.
