Tokyo stocks open lower amid renewed concerns over global economic outlook

TOKYO, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday after inheriting a weak lead from Wall Street overnight on renewed concerns over the future course of the global economy.

In early trade, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 73.95 points, or 0.34 percent, from Tuesday to 21,461.30.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.76 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,564.98.

Mining, oil and coal product and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
