TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower Wednesday after inheriting a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, with sentiment dampened by renewed concerns over the outlook for the global economy.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 300.47 points, or 1.29 percent, from Tuesday to 23,079.34.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 13.77 points, or 0.81 percent, at 1,692.96.

Nonferrous metal, securities house and mining-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
