TOKYO, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, as despite an upbeat lead from Wall Street overnight, investors opted to lock in profits made after the market's sharp closing high a day earlier.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 107.94 points, or 0.51 percent, from Tuesday to 21,163.23.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.65 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,531.08.

Air transportation, real estate and land transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
