Tokyo stocks fall in morning on concerns over health of U.S. economy

TOKYO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares dropped Friday morning, as gains made in early trade were reversed on renewed concerns about the health of the U.S. economy as the coronavirus remains prevalent in some states reopening for business.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 60.75 points, or 0.31 percent, from Thursday to 19,854.03.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 4.59 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,441.96.

Real estate, farm and fishery, and food-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
