The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday closed down by over 70 points at 10,653.91 points.
Less enthusiasm by investors was perceived on the first day of the last three-day trading period towards the end of 2015. In addition, further appreciation of euro and falling oil prices weighed on the leading German stock index which lowered by 0.69 percent on Monday.
The largest airline group in Europe Deutsche Lufthansa AG was the top riser which advanced slightly by 0.62 percent, followed by Fresenius which added by 0.31 percent. German electricity and gas company RWE fell the most by 2.71 percent.
ThyssenKrupp and Volkswagen belonged to the top-losers as well, whose share price was 2.45 percent and 1.41 percent lower respectively on Monday. The automobile manufacturer Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 101.32 million euros (around 111.14 million U.S. dollars).
