TOKYO, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened almost flat Friday, as investors bought on the back of gains made on Wall Street overnight and sold to secure recent profits with many international investors away for the Christmas holidays.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 11.67 points, or 0.04 percent, from Thursday to 26,656.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 4.26 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,778.53.

Information and communication and service issues led notables decliners, while marine transportation and construction issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
