TOKYO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday, with the benchmark Nikkei hitting a fresh 30-year intraday high, as the market mood was brightened by Wall Street's record closing highs overnight on expectations for more stimulus in the U.S.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 219.39 points, or 0.80 percent, from Thursday to 27,709.52.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 3.49 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,829.79.

Rubber product, pulp and paper and mining-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
