TOKYO, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as risk appetite improved on hopes for domestic firms reporting robust earnings following a recent uptick in exports and strength at home and abroad of technology-related issues.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 154.94 points, or 0.54 percent, from Tuesday to 28,701.12.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 11.83 points, or 0.64 percent, at 1,859.83.

Food, pulp and paper, and farm and fishery-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
