Tokyo stocks open lower on profit-taking after Nikkei's 30-year high

TOKYO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday as investors opted to secure profits as the benchmark Nikkei stock index hit a fresh 30-year the previous day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 88.22 points, or 0.30 percent, from Tuesday to 29,417.71.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.23 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,923.31.

Mining, nonferrous metal and glass and ceramics product issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
