TOKYO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday following U.S. shares declining overnight, as a spike in U.S. bond yields sparked concerns over valuations and market stability.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 353.63 points, or 1.20 percent, from Wednesday to 29,205.47.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 13.39 points, or 0.70 percent, at 1,891.15.

Information and communication, air transportation and nonferrous metal issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
