Tokyo stocks open higher on dip-buying after decline

TOKYO, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Wednesday as despite a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, investors bought on dips following the previous day's decline.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 62.21 points, or 0.21 percent, from Tuesday to 29,470.38.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.41 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,897.26.

Iron and steel, rubber product and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
