TOKYO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark Nikkei stock index opened marginally higher Wednesday after inheriting a positive lead from Wall Street overnight, as a halt in U.S. yields' rise helped ease concerns about rising interest rates.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 63.18 points, or 0.22 percent, from Tuesday to 29,091.12.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 0.04 point at 1,917.64.

Electric appliance, pharmaceutical and precision instrument issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
