TOKYO, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Monday as U.S. shares' sold performance late last week bolstered the market mood, although some investors opted to take profits early on which limited the market's rise.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 45.70 points, or 0.15 percent, from Friday to 29,763.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 8.70 points, or 0.45 percent, at 1,959.76.

Marine transportation, air transportation and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
