Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall Street's upbeat lead

TOKYO, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday as investors snapped up issues oversold the previous day, with Wall Street's solid lead overnight adding support.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 277.18 points, or 0.93 percent, from Thursday to 29,986.16.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 19.56 points, or 1.00 percent, at 1,971.42.

Precision instrument, securities house and real estate issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
