Southwest China's Yunnan Province announced that it planned to build a comprehensive transportation system radiating to the South Asia and Southeast Asia, reported the www.zgjtb.com on Wednesday.
Yunnan Communist Party of China secretary Li Jiheng noted that during the 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-2020), Yunnan would lay emphasis on infrastructure construction with comprehensive transportation system as the priority. Ding Shaoxiang, deputy provincial governor, said that 133 billion yuan would be invested in comprehensive transportation system construction in 2016. Of the total, 100 billion yuan would be used in highways and waterways, 30 billion yuan in railways and 3 billion yuan in airports.
During the 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-2020), Yunnan Province plans to invest 500 billion yuan in highway and waterway construction. By 2020, the total length of highways is expected to reach 250,000 kilometers.
