China's basic telecom operator China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 007282.HK) announced last Friday its mobile subscribers reached 195.54 million by the end of October this year, up 6.95 percent year on year.
In October, the company's mobile subscribers increased about 1.2 million, as against an increase of 1.26 million in the corresponding year-earlier period. China Telecom said its 3G and 4G subscribers grew 2.3 million in October and 20.48 million in the first ten months to 139.11 million in total.
In the fixed-line telecom business sector, China Telecom added 700,000 wireline broadband subscribers in October, which brought the total to 111.79 million. Its subscribers of local access lines in services, including wireless local access lines, dropped 920,000 in the month, to 135.97 million in total.
