Cargo throughput at China's major ports, or those with annual throughput above 10 million tonnes each, increased 1.6 percent year on year to 955.09 million metric tons (tonnes) in September. The growth rate was up 0.6 percentage point from that in August. In the first nine months of the year, cargo throughput at these ports totaled 8.5993 billion tonnes, up 2.8 percent from the corresponding period of last year.
