China's shipment of mobile phones reached 518 million units in 2015, up 14.6 percent year on year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Wednesday.
The total shipment of mobile phones in the whole 2015 was 440 million units, surging 157 percent year on year. The shipment of smart phones was 457 million units in 2015, up 17.7 percent year on year and accounting for 88.3 percent of the total.
In December, the total shipment of mobile phones grew 25.2 percent year on year to 56.475 million units. The shipment of 4G mobile phones was 50.27 million units, up 60.2 percent year on year.
