TOKYO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened mixed on Friday as buying was spurred by Wall Street's overnight rise and selling by the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 9.91 points, or 0.05 percent, from Thursday to 21,472.77. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.78 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,556.12.

Mining, and oil and coal product issues led advancers, while construction and air transportation issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
