Tokyo stocks open lower as Dow’s drop for 3rd day dents sentiment

TOKYO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Wednesday, as investor sentiment was dented by the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average closing lower for the third day in a row.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 43.15 points, or 0.20 percent, from Tuesday to 21,522.00.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 9.23 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1,565.66.

Iron and steel, marine transportation and machinery-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
