Tokyo stocks open marginally higher as semiconductor issues find favor

TOKYO, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Friday, as U.S. technology company Intel Corp.'s earnings report beating market expectations sent semiconductor issues higher.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 36.51 points, or 0.16 percent, from Thursday to 22,787.11.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 1.95 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,645.69.

Pharmaceutical, precision instrument and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
