TOKYO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday as the market inherited a positive lead from U.S. shares advancing overnight, although moves were cautious ahead of key U.S. November jobs data due out later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 54.31 points, or 0.23 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 23,354.40.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.95 points, or 0.11 percent, to finish at 1,713.36.

Securities house, construction, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
