Tokyo stocks open lower as investors opt for profits

TOKYO, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors secured profits following Nikkei's sharp rise a day earlier.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 126.77 points, or 0.56 percent, from Monday to 22,657.97.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.83 points, or 0.31 percent, at 1,568.19.

Farm and fishery, air transportation and land transportation issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
