Tokyo stocks open marginally higher on bargain hunting

TOKYO, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Monday following the market's two-day losing streak as investors sought out issues oversold and picked up bargains.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 27.64 points, or 0.12 percent, from Friday to 22,724.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 1.12 points, or 0.07 percent, at 1,574.97.

Precision instrument, information and communication, and pharmaceutical issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
