Tokyo stocks close lower as tech issues weigh

TOKYO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as U.S. technology shares being offloaded again overnight dented investor sentiment here, while a drop in oil prices sent energy issues lower.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 241.59 points, or 1.04 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 23,032.54.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 15.49 points, or 0.96 percent, to finish at 1,605.40.

Mining, bank and real estate-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
