Tokyo stocks open higher on bargain-hunting after losing streak

TOKYO, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as following the benchmark Nikkei stock index's three-day losing streak and investors snapped-up issues deemed oversold.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 310.23 points, or 1.03 percent, from Friday to 30,328.15.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 17.60 points, or 0.91 percent, at 1,946.55.

Air transportation, nonferrous metal, and iron and steel-liked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
