TOKYO, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday as investors took heart from solid U.S. jobs data for November sending Wall Street higher late last week and easing concerns about the health of the world's largest economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 76.30 points, or 0.33 percent, from Friday to close the day at 23,430.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.71 points, or 0.51 percent, to finish at 1,722.07.

Mining, oil and coal product, and insurance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
