TOKYO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed Friday morning as buying on the back of U.S. shares rising overnight was offset by a stronger yen weighing on exporter issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 2.95 points, or 0.01 percent, from Thursday to 23,921.97.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 4.78 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,735.98.

Rubber product and food issues led notable decliners, while marine transportation, and electric power and gas-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
